Details
Program developed by JOTAC Academy put emphasis on hand skill development going along with basic theoretical knowledge to participants. This program has been developed with input from oil and gas, shipping and fabrication industries.
Duration of training :
program under RAISE category are scheduled for 1 week full time.
Training Facilities
- Training rooms are equipped with air-con, LED screen, LCD projector and white board to ficilitate effective 2-way discussion between instructor and participants.
- Worskshop area is well ventilated and is equiped with required no of workdesks, cutting, bending and welding machines. Electrode oven are also provided to fullfill quality requirements.
- The workshops are certified by BOMBA for training activities.
- Tea/coffee vending machines.
Training activities
CIDB Green card
This card is compulsory requirement for all category of personnel working at jobsite. The program give overview of potential hazards at work site, the appropriate personnel protective equipment (PPE) requirement, and general safety rules at worksite. The course will be conducted by CIDB qualified instructor.
All participants will be accessed on their understanding and the CIDB Green Card will only be issued to those who passed the assessment.
Rigging and slinging
This 2-day course is jointly conducted by JOTAC and NIOSH (National Institute Of Occupatioanl Safety and Health). The objective of the this program is to equip participants with safety practices required for lifting objects by hoists and cranes. Standard slinging technique and signaling are parts of the scope in training.
All participant will be assessed at the end of the training to test their understanding. NIOSH will issue the certificate.
Electric arc welding and metal works
Participants will be given theoretical and practical knowledge of joining two metals together. Theory will take 20% of the time, while the remaining will be spent on the work floor. Basic knowledge on various types of metals, common type of metal used in fabrication industry, preparation works required before welding, types of welding commonly used in fabrication and major part will be focused on electric arc welding.
Each participant will spend considerable amount of time on shop floor to learn:
(a) preparatorily works prior to welding,
(b) how welding is done correctly, and
(c) inspection techniqueEach participants will be given project assignment to complete within specific duration in order to assess their skill.
Certification
At the end of the 1-week training, participants who successfully completed the assessment will be conferred with “RIGGING AND METAL WORKS TECHNICIAN” certificate.
